What is it that makes a beautifuly decorated room? Is it expensive courtains or plenty of light, or original artwork?
I think there isn't a magic formula to create the perfect space for you.
The key to a beautiful home isn't spending a ton of moneyon designer furniture, it's about making sure everything works and fits together.
Below you can find some rules and advices that can help you.

1.Light calming colors. light grey, white, all pastel colors but also all natural colors.

2.Some soft lightening - lights that are dimmable, placing table and floor lamps in every corner

plus don't forget to put some candles around especially in the winter.

3. Plants and fresh flowers - having some  nature inside your room would be great but don't forget to keep houseplants that have a low-light nature..i would suggest the ones below:
 
4. Mix of modern and old fashioned but always don't forget to keep it cozy
5.Throws and pillows (never to many)
6.All kinds of mixes of materials and fabrics: furry, velvet, cotton, silky, linen, woody, marble, metallic...
 
 
7. Always pay attention to little details: small items that make you happy
8.Organized clean closets and cabinets, practical solutions to make your home work best for everyday life
9. Follow your intuition, make your home look like you, support your values and personality.
